Anchorage, the state’s largest city, hosts half of the Last Frontier’s population, with 300,000 souls inhabiting a metropolitan area the size of the entire state of Delaware. Yet for all its modernities, tall buildings, conveniences and restaurants, it is still, unmistakably, Alaskan.
